Privacy Policy
HomeManager is an iOS app developed by HomeManager (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.
Short version
- We don’t run a server. Your data lives in your own iCloud account, not on our infrastructure.
- We don’t collect analytics. No Google Analytics, Firebase, Segment, Amplitude, or any other third-party tracking.
- We don’t show ads.
- We don’t sell anything. There is nothing to sell.
What data HomeManager stores
HomeManager stores the items, rooms, photos, warranties, receipts, and maintenance parts you add — on your device and, if you’re signed into iCloud, in your personal iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit.
We have no access to this data. Apple’s CloudKit encrypts it in transit and at rest; only your Apple ID can access it. You can delete it at any time by removing items in the app, deleting the app, or clearing the app’s data in iCloud Settings.
Apple’s handling of this data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
What the app accesses on your device
- Camera — to photograph items and scan data plates. The resulting images are stored with the item you created them for.
- Photo library — to let you attach existing photos to items.
- Files — when you import a
.homemanagerfile from Files, Mail, or AirDrop.
All of this stays on your device (or in your iCloud, as above).
On-device processing
- Data plate scanning uses Apple’s Vision framework on your device to read text from photos. The image is not sent to a server.
- Search within the app runs locally across your own data.
Third-party services
- iCloud / CloudKit — see above.
- Product search redirects — when you tap “Find This” on a maintenance part, the app opens a search URL in your browser (e.g., Amazon). We don’t send any of your data; the external site sees only the search term and whatever your browser normally sends. That external site’s own privacy policy applies.
- Barcode lookups — if the app fetches product info from a barcode, only the barcode number is sent to the lookup service. No personal information or device identifiers are attached.
Children
HomeManager is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Because we don’t hold your data, there’s no account to close and nothing for us to delete on our side. You control everything from the device:
- Delete individual items, rooms, or photos inside the app.
- Delete the app, which removes the on-device copy.
- Clear iCloud data in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → HomeManager.
International users
HomeManager is built in the United States. If you use it from outside the US, you are doing so voluntarily.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, surface a note inside the app before they take effect.
